For over fifty years, the Gagarin Class has been the backbone of Soviet transport and auxiliary fleets. Relatively simple to construct, highly modular and adaptable to a wide variety of roles, the Gagarin has become one of the most mass produced vessels in the Orion Arm, finding remarkable success in both military and civilian use. Undoubtedly the most famous utilization of the Gagarin has been its in role as a landing ship for the Red Army and Soviet Navy. In this capacity, the ship can carry a full Naval Expeditionary Unit, two Red Army regiments or countless other unit configurations as required.
Nakiska Outpost is an independent trading station located within the Mako Cluster of the Lalande System. Originally named Kiska Station, the outpost was first constructed the late 22nd century and operated for roughly two decades before being abandoned during the Odysseus Impact. Since its rediscovery in 2202, the station has been occupied by various individuals and groups and is today operated by Edward Thrush, a former freelancer. Nakiska Outpost has become a minor center of trade and port of call in the Lalande System, mainly catering to smaller vessels travelling between Alpha Centauri and Sirius.
The Orion Arm, also known as the Orion Region, is the name given to the extent of interstellar space currently inhabited by humanity. While the region covers an extremely vast distance, it represents only a small section of the Milky Way galaxy. Within the Orion Arm there lie several thousand star systems, with millions of planets, moons, and all manner of asteroid belts, comets, and other celestial phenomena. Only a tiny fraction of these star systems contain habitable planets, with roughly three hundred systems currently inhabited by humans. Estimates see that number rising to over four hundred within the next fifty years.
